Racing Rant

OK, I was watching "Pardon the Interruption," and they were talking about Letterman talking about the IRL on "Late Night." Kornheiser was complaining that Letterman didn't make any jokes, and my first thought was "Why does he need to make jokes, the IRL is a joke all by itself." Why do I think this? Well, considering it's a league that was originally founded as an all-American (American drivers, American cars), affordable, all-oval series that now has numerous foreign drivers (before this year, the last six Indy 500s were won by foreign drivers), enormously expensive engine contracts with Honda and Toyota and are looking to expand into road courses in the future (to make all the traitors who left CART happy). American drivers find it difficult to get rides, especially the drivers coming out of sprint cars, who were originally envisioned as the talent pool. CART/OWRS has made overtures of merger in the past, only to be slapped in the face by the moron Tony George, who seems to feel UNIFICATION can only come with the death of the opponent (Hello, what dictionary are you using?)

I feel better now...
